Research Associate for the Project “Cluster of Excellence 'Advanced Imaging of MatteR' - Extreme X-ray focusing”
The Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences / CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter invites applications
The position in accordance with Section 28 subsection 3 of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) commences as soon as possible.
This is a fixed-term contract in accordance with Section 2 of the academic fixed-term labor contract act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG). The term is fixed for a period of 2 years. The position calls for 39 hours per week. - SALARY LEVEL 13 TV-L -
Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.
Specific Duties: Working in a team, the candidate will
develop and apply techniques to characterize and improve x-ray lenses
develop new imaging methodologies using lab sources, synchrotrons and FELs
investigate the effects of intense x-ray fields generated by focusing XFEL pulses onto materials
investigate coherent diffraction using highly convergent beams
A university degree in a relevant subject plus doctorate. Experience with X-ray synchrotron, XFEL radiation or X-ray lab sources. Some proven knowledge and expertise in wavefront sensing x-ray microscopy or coherent diffraction using x-ray sources or short wavelength sources.
