Postdoc f/m Hard X-ray Photoemission

DESY is one of the world’s leading research centres for photon science, particle and astroparticle physics as well as accelerator physics.

With the storage ring PETRA III and the Free-Electron-Laser FLASH, DESY offers a unique combination of photon sources to the scientific community. PETRA III, one of the most brilliant hard X-ray facilities world wide, currently provides 17 undulator beamlines for experiments utilizing the extreme source

brilliance. For the extension of the PETRA III facility, DESY is seeking a scientist to develop and implement new concepts and instrumentation for photoelectron spectroscopy techniques using hard X-ray excitation (”HAXPES”, 3-15 keV) at the new undulator beamline P22.

Ihr Aufgabengebiet:

  • Develop an independent research program using HAXPES at the beamline
  • Design and implement relevant instrumentation including sample environments
  • Employ relevant data reduction and evaluation software
  • Perform scientific projects and work closely with external collaborators

Ihr Profil:

  • PhD in physics, chemistry, or materials science
  • Profound knowledge of solid state photoemission techniques
  • Experience with photoelectron spectroscopy using synchrotron radiation
  • Knowledge of X-ray physics beneficial
  • Experimental skills and interest in instrumentation development
  • Excellent knowledge of English
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
